Drinking season is upon us (although for some of us it never leaves), and what better way to kick off the Moerlein Oktoberfest than with a ceremonial tapping of the keg. The honorary tapping will be done Friday by Manfred Schnetzer, longtime member of the Kolping Society. The event will feature live music by Die Vereinsmusikanten, German food and raffles featuring many unique items. A stein collection will be on display featuring items available for purchase. In addition, Moerlein artist Jim Effler will be on hand to sign Commemorative Moerlein Oktoberfest posters. The celebration will be this Friday, 5 p.m.-midnight at the Kolping Center. The tapping itself will take place at 7 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
