At the beginning of the summer, it was evident that the COVID-19 pandemic would be putting a strain on summer and family vacations. With restrictions on travel and businesses placed throughout the country, it was looking like there’d be no room or time to enjoy a summer getaway. Even if you intended on sticking with your vacation plans, flights were changing and being canceled at a rate that would make just about anyone’s head spin.
Now, as states throughout the country have crept into their reopening phases, you may be able to get traveling back on your agenda. If you’re still looking to fly out of Cincinnati from CVG, low-fare carrier Frontier Airlines is reinstating non-stop flights to six vacation destination cities throughout the country.
Non-stop flights to Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Sarasota, Florida will be returning to CVG. In addition to the reinstated flights, Frontier will also be increasing traffic with two daily flights to Denver, Fort Myers, Las Vegas and Tampa, as well as three daily flights to Orlando. Flights for each city are scheduled to open at different times, but you can check out the full schedule on CVG’s website.
The first of the newly reinstated flights are set to begin service on July 4 with flights to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport in Florida. The rest of the flights will be available on Aug. 1, which includes flights to Atlanta, Dallas and Miami. Non-stop flights to Philadelphia and Los Angeles are slated to return next April.
“We’re excited to be offering 13 nonstop destinations from CVG and expand our service to include additional frequency on our most popular routes,” said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president of commercial for Frontier Airlines. “Theme parks, resorts and other vacation activities are opening across the country and we recognize there is pent-up demand for summer travel. Frontier is offering multiple daily flight options to many of the country’s most beloved vacation destinations with low fares to make it even easier to start traveling again.”
Frontier is known for being a price-managing airline for those traveling on a budget. The average fare for the newly reinstated flights falls at around $50, with flights to Dallas and Atlanta hitting as low as $39.
Even though traffic is picking up at CVG and other airports, Frontier Airlines is taking initiative to ensure passengers are traveling safely as the world continues to grapple with COVID-19. Frontier recently became the first airline to announce required temperature screenings for all passengers and flight crew, which went into effect on June 1. Any passengers or crew members with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will be denied boarding in order to ensure the safety of all those traveling with Frontier. And face coverings are required for customers.
CVG International Airport is located at 3087 Terminal Drive, Hebron, Kentucky. For more information and updates on CVG’s flights and schedule, visit cvgairport.com.
