Claire Messud

Claire Messud

The people who run the University of Cincinnati’s Department of English and Comparative Literature once again show their good taste by inviting author Claire Messud to be a featured speaker at the department’s annual Visiting Writers Series. The versatile Messud is equally adept at fiction (The Emperor’s Children, which was a New York Times Book of the Year) and non-fiction (When the World Was Steady, The Last Life and the recent The Woman Upstairs, all of which garnered wide acclaim), no doubt the result of her impressive academic background (degrees from Yale and Cambridge) and diverse upbringing. Messud reads from and discusses her work.

7 p.m. Wednesday. Free. MainStreet Cinema, University of Cincinnati, Clifton, 513-556-5860, artsci.uc.edu.
