The Obama administration last week announced that all health insurers will be required to cover birth control costs and other women’s health services without charging co-pays, and yesterday Fox News’ America’s Newsroom got all hot and bothered about the whole thing. Fox’s anti-birth control “expert,” Family PAC Federal Vice President Sandy Rios, called the policy “ridiculous,” despite Former Women’s Media Center president Jehmu Greene’s testimony of the facts.—-

Rios went so far as to say Greene lives in “la la land” and offered up her own arguments on the topic. “Is the White House out of their mind? Does the West Wing not know what the left wing is doing?” Rios queried. “We’re $14 trillion in debt and now we’re going to cover birth control, breast pumps, counseling for abuse? Are we going to do pedicures and manicures as well?”

Soooo, Fox News still thinks President Obama is Muslim. Yesterday morning Fox tied Obama to Islam after the president issued a statement giving Muslims all around the world his best wishes from he and the first lady as Ramadan begins. Now, while there’s nothing wrong with being a Muslim, Fox News has invested a lot of time in making followers of Islam out to be the enemy and so therefore President Obama must be enemy.

The five police officers on trial in the shooting deaths of civilians during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina were portrayed as criminals and heroes in Tuesday’s closing arguments. “It was unreasonable for these officers to fire even one shot,” said Assistant U.S. Attorney Theodore Carter, who reminded jurors of video footage that showed they unleashed “54 seconds of gunfire.”

The trial began five weeks ago and focuses on an incident on September 4, 2005 as two families whose homes were devastated by the flood were crossing the New Orleans Danziger Bridge. Two people were killed in what the prosecutors have described as a “hail of gunfire.” The jury will begin deliberating today on the 25 charges faced by the officers.

The New York State Fair next month will bring to those in attendance the “Big Kahuna Donut Burger,” a 1,500-calorie monstrosity with more calories than a Big Mac and Whopper combined. For only around five bucks, the quarter-pound burger in between slices of grilled, glazed doughnut can be yours.

This is why you’re fat.”
