Although Jessica Lea Mayfield isn’t technically old enough to get into the Southgate House, she will be filling the venue with her Bluesy, Bluegrass tunes on Friday. The Kent, Ohio native has been immersed in music since birth, playing music with her family’s band and writing her own songs before she hit her teens. At age 15, she released her first EP, White Lies. From there she’s gone on to open for big names like The Black Keys and The Avett Brothers.

Mayfield’s musical style has been compared to that of Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams and Townes Van Zandt.

Opening for her Friday are local favorites Among the Oak & Ash and No No Knots.
