A tiger has escaped from a local zoo and its whereabouts are unknown. That terror seems to pale against the challenges faced by Sherry Wickham, whose youthful expectations of a perfect career in art therapy and life as a teacher are thwarted by everyone in her life. Her mother has barricaded herself in an upstairs bedroom. Her depressed sister, jilted by her fiancé, sits on the couch, watching Top Gun repeatedly. Her paranoid boss expects her to counsel his aimless son. Kim Rosenstock’s darkly funny and moving play from 2010 is the next production in the Shelterhouse Theatre at the Cincinnati Playhouse. Producing Artistic Director Ed Stern says, “I know Tigers Be Still will be laughed at and loved by Playhouse audiences.” Director Rob Ruggiero, who most recently staged High with Kathleen Turner in Cincinnati, returns for his fourth production at the Playhouse. $25-$61. Tuesday through Sunday. Through April 15. Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. 962 Mount Adams Circle, Mount Adams. 513-421-3888, cincyplay.com.
