Photos: Newport on the Levee Transforms into Olympic Village

In honor of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Newport on the Levee held their own version of the opening ceremony celebration on July 26. The levee was transformed into Paris with the addition of a miniature replica of the Eiffel Tower and a winners podium. Attendees were encouraged to make flags for their favorite country, though many people opted to draw their favorite sports team logos on their flags.

The night continued with the Gary the Lion, Rosie Red, Gapper and Who Dey mascots recreating the passing of the torch. After Gapper successfully “lit” the torch, all of the mascots and attendees danced and cheered.

Olympics-related festivities will continue at Newport on the Levee until the Olympics conclude on Aug. 11.
