In honor of its approaching fifth anniversary, locally-based label/collective/promo crew Race Car Productions — specializing in progressive Electronic/Dance forms like IDM, Techno, Ambient and Electro — has released a new compilation/retrospective spanning its releases so far. And they are offering the download for free via its Web site.—-
The label began as a promotional company, formed as an effort to bring to town artists and DJs from around the world who might otherwise not have Greater Cincinnati on their touring itineraries. Race Car became an official digital label in 2006 with its first compilation release. The label has released music by some area artists (notably by Evan Scott Sharfe, who co-founded Race Car with Matthew Cooper), but its focus is global, counting artists from California, Brooklyn, Japan, Germany, the U.K., France and beyond amongst its members/contributors.
Click here to download the new comp — curated by Sharfe (who creates under the name Evan Scott) and Cooper (aka The Librarian) — and take a peak around the site for more information about the label’s eclectic ventures.
