Midterm elections in the United States are vital to shaping the city, region, state and country, but they typically don’t involve tons of drama.

Boy, did that change for 2022. In the wake of 2020’s political throwdown and baseless election fraud accusations, the current crop of politicians doubled down on contention, and their supporters often followed suit. Flips, dips and drips all came out of the showdowns on Nov. 8, 2022.

Scroll down to see how Twitter reacted to Ohio and Kentucky’s midterms. Some responses were perfectly pleasant. Others… well, let’s just say that there probably are some Sith living in Greater Cincinnati.

Kentucky re-elected Rand Paul. Good move, guess you like failure. “The Bluegrass state ranked among the bottom 10 in economy, education, health, and quality of life.Insights from the research showed Kentucky had the fifth-highest percentage of its population living in poverty”— TITUS (@TitusNation) November 9, 2022
“Coney Island” at … well, Coney Island This one’s pretty obvious, but since local indie darlings The National are on this track with Tay-Tay, we can safely say “Coney Island” is as Cincinnati as it gets. Find a bench, pop a squat and get good and gloomy.

“Red” down 50 East Before “Getaway Car,” “Red” was the unofficial driving anthem for Swift fans. The autumnal vibes of the song’s namesake album make fall the best time to listen to “Red,” and U.S. Route 50 East the best place. The drive is breezy and beautiful, with loads of fall views as the trees change colors along the Ohio River. Let someone else focus on the road while you scream-sing from the passenger seat, because no amount of time will make what the fuck boy did to you any less shitty.
I’ve watched a lot of debates in my life. I have never witnessed a complete, utter and total dismantling like @TimRyan just did to @JDVance1. That’s my guy. 🇺🇸— Rep. Casey Weinstein (@RepWeinstein) October 11, 2022

Congratulations to @RandPaul on a resounding win! In rejecting Charles Booker, Kentuckians said no to a Democratic Socialist who wants to defund the police and voted for a conservative who will hold bureaucrats accountable in Washington!— Republican Party of Kentucky (@KYGOP) November 9, 2022
“Where You Left Me” at Arnold’s Bar and Grill If the character in Swift’s “Where You Left Me” were to sit cross-legged in the dim light anywhere, it would be at Arnold’s. Walking into the historic (and haunted) joint, one can picture the girl frozen in time in the corner, dust collected on her pinned-up hair. The building even has a history of ghosts breaking glass in front of customers. Este? Is that you?
truly cannot believe steve chabot lost. this is a moment i have been waiting for since i was an actual kid.— c0rr3na (parody) (@itscorrena) November 9, 2022
Rand Paul has defeated Charles BookerEven though he lost, proud of my friend Charles. He visited parts of the state that he knew wouldn’t vote for him bc it was the right thing to do. He is a really good dude— Matt Jones (@KySportsRadio) November 9, 2022
NEW: I spoke with former TPD chief @ChiefDuganRet about Tampa's worst mural, and why he says it "looks like a first grader's art project," and should be removed. https://t.co/uUBdxYWzF9— Colin Wolf (@WolfColin) April 19, 2022
Ohio, you break my heart. You had a good man in Tim Ryan and you blew it.— George Hahn (@georgehahn) November 9, 2022
“Love Story Remix” at BLINK BLINK takes old familiar buildings and murals and lights them up in an exciting new way, just like Elvira’s remix of “Love Story.”

We all knew it was coming, but it’s still a gut punch. State elections have never been more important: legislative, Governor, State Supreme Court. Vote like our lives depend on it.— Allison Russo🌻 (@Russo4Ohio) June 24, 2022

“We are Never Ever Getting Back Together” at Spruce Really any nail shop will do, but there’s something about Spruce that makes you want to open up and tell your nail tech exactly WHY the guy you keep chronically dating is REALLY in the past now. You’re never ever getting back together … like ever.
Let us remember that tonight is really a victory for everyone who holds dear and cherishes the God-given liberty that makes America that shining beacon of hope…to the entire world. https://t.co/l3OalNDrwO— Rand Paul (@RandPaul) November 9, 2022

The Supreme Court just stripped away the fundamental right to reproductive health care. They turned their backs on generations of progress and sacrifice. We won’t stand for this, and we’re going to fight like hell.— Aftab Pureval (@AftabPureval) June 24, 2022
We have unfinished business, and my promise to you tonight is that I will not stop. We will continue to fight every single day to overcome the challenges we face and create greater opportunities for all Ohioans. https://t.co/8rKW3xkxoJ— Mike DeWine (@MikeDeWine) November 9, 2022
