Tom Keegan, the owner of Hyde Park’s Keegan’s Specialty Seafood, has died, according to a post made on the business’s Facebook page on Nov. 6.

Keegan was recovering from a recent roller skating accident in a neurological rehab facility.

The shop, which is dedicated to providing the highest-quality fresh fish and seafood for customers, announced on Oct. 31 that it would be closing for the month of November due to the family emergency. The family has not announced if or when they plan to reopen, but has said they will keep their customers updated.

The Nov. 6 post reads: “As our Dad always said, ‘We have the best customers in the world!’ We appreciate all of your loyalty and support. More to come about the future of Keegan’s.”

The visitation and memorial service for Tom Keegan will held on Nov. 8 at the Middendorf Funeral Home in Fort Mitchell. The post asked guests to make memorial donations to La Soupe in lieu of flowers. La Soupe is a local nonprofit that uses “otherwise wasted produce” to create meals for customers, food-insecure families and other nonprofits.
