You won’t have to worry about traffic, muddy baths and brown acid, but you will get to hear music from Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Who, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Sly and the Family Stone and more at this Sunday’s (Aug. 25) celebration of Woodstock’s 50th anniversary at Washington Park.
The free event will feature bands of students from Mason, Ohio’s School of Rock franchise, where young people take instrument lessons and also learn about things like live performance. The Mason School has been extremely active locally over the past several years, with regular concerts held at local venues like the Woodward Theater and Northside Tavern, as well as appearances at events like the MidPoint Music Festival and the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards.
Sunday’s concert — part of Washington Park’s OTR Performs series — begins at 6 p.m. and is described as “3 Hours of Peace & Music.” Other artists being covered at the event include The Grateful Dead, Joan Baez, Arlo Guthrie, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Melanie, Canned Heat, Joe Cocker, The Band and 10 Years After.
