Covington bar and restaurant Frosthaus, best known for its quick bites and boozy slushies, is transforming into a new concept that honors historical influences while looking ahead to the future.

On Friday, May 30, Frosthaus will reopen in its current space as The Hum, a rebranding that embodies energy, nostalgia and bold new flavors, says the team. Located in the former Union, Light, Heat, & Power Co. building, The Hum pays homage to the building’s history as an electric utility hub and takes its name from the (literal and metaphorical) ever-present buzz of energy that fills the space.

“The transition from Frosthaus marks more than a name change. It’s a reimagining — one that invites the community to plug in, power up, and feel the hum,” the team said in a press release.

Diners can expect a refreshed vintage design, as well as a creative, modern menu of classic comfort foods with a twist and a bar program that features both retro influences and electric flavors.

“Think familiar tunes with a synth line — warm, a little edgy, and endlessly inviting,” the team added.

The Eishaus ice cream walk-up window will also be reimagined as The Hum window, which will open in mid-June. The Hum window will offer a selection of quick bites, cold drinks and a new twist on The Pocket, an Eishaus favorite.

The Hum will offer limited reservations and walk-ins available during its soft opening, starting May 30, as the team fine-tunes the new experience. Grand opening details will be announced in the following weeks.
