A popular bar and restaurant in Over-the-Rhine will close its doors permanently after Saturday.

Copper & Flame, known for its unique “pour-your-own-drink” concept and street food-style fare, announced on social media this weekend that its last day will be Saturday, Sept. 2.

“This week, I made the painful decision to close Copper & Flame. I’m more proud of what this team has built than I have words for right now. The awards. The amazing [five-star] reviews. They did that,” the bar’s owner wrote.

In the post, the bar’s owner alluded to money and legal problems being behind the closure.

“Sadly, the losses piled up too high. My pocket is empty. My CCs maxed long ago. I had to tap out,” Copper & Flame posted. “…We’re giving it one last rip next week…to help the staff make some money…maybe help me pay whatever gaggle of lawyers I need…and to have some fun knowing we gave it everything we had.”

Copper & Flame opened in June 2021, offering 68 different taps of draft beer, plus craft cocktails and wine — all priced by the ounce and poured by the individual, along with a menu of elevated street food, with a fusion of Central/South American and Southeast Asian flavors by then-chef Sydney Fisher.

Copper & Flame is located at 1115 Vine St. in OTR. They’ll be open their final week 4-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday; and 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday.
