Hershey Age: 5 Years Old / Breed: Labrador Retriever Mix / Sex: Male / Rescue: Louie’s Legacy ”Hershey is a handsome 5 year old chocolate Lab mix! Weighing in around 60 pounds, he is on a weight loss journey to get down to healthy weight which should be around 55 pounds. Hershey loves the other dogs in his foster home, both bigger and smaller than him. He will run and zoom with the dogs, then be ready to curl up by your feet for a nap. He has a medium energy level, enjoying going for walks at the park, but also ready for a lazy day at home. Hershey is also quick to make friends with the cats in his foster home. Hershey is both crate and potty trained, but likely would do well outside of a crate when his foster family is away from the home. Hershey lacks confidence and is hesitant of new people – he does best with slow introductions and would prefer a forever home with limited visitors, or a family willing to crate him when company is over. Once adjusted to his people, he’s a very loving and loyal boy! Due to his nervousness of new people, he would do best in a home with older children who understand how to respect his space as he acclimates. Hershey takes more time to warm up to men than women, so any men in his life should be prepared to take the time to build up trust with him as he gets to know them. She met a resident SAAP alum and did great. River road quietly in the car. She met several staff members at our vet and immediately welcomed pets from them. River also knew to potty outside. She went into the crate fine and is resting after her long day of travel and vetting. River is seventy pounds now but definitely needs weight and will probably grow more! Her skin is still healing from the previous flea infestation. As her name implies this little girl is a Sweetie! She is very timid and fearful but wants to trust humans. Given a little time she wants love and pets. Her curly tail makes it seem like she is mixed with a pug, but she also resembles a terrier. She is an 18lb, 2 year old girl. She needs someone willing to give her the love and encouragement to flourish. She is potty pad trained but has no experience walking on a leash. Maxwell Brown Age: 4 Years Old / Breed: Labrador Retriever Mix / Sex: Male / Rescue: Louie’s Legacy ”Maxwell is a 4 year old lab mix, around 35 lbs. He is a shy and sweet little guy. He loves to go on walks and is great on a leash. He does not pay attention to dogs barking at him or strangers walking past, he is just happy to be there. He will need to go on at least one walk a day (preferably in the morning when he is at his highest energy), but would prefer an active owner who doesn’t mind multiple walks per day! Buddy has never shown signs of aggression towards anything, he is easy to bathe, feed and goes into his crate quite easily. He likes to be around people as much as possible but he will happily sleep in his crate or on the ground as long as he can see his person. She loves to be around her people whether that means laying next to you on the couch or following you around the yard. She’s pretty good on a leash when walking but can smell a chipmunk or squirrel and her hound instincts kick in and she Pulls and tries to find it so she’ll need a little leash training. When I’ve had her outside she is pretty good at staying by me and did fine on a long leash in the yard so I don’t think a physical fence is necessary. She is doing great crate training and is housebroken (we only had one pee accident right after her spay). She would be fine to roam free and doesn’t need to be in a crate.
