Cincinnati-based clothing company BlaCk OWned Outerwear and the University of Cincinnati have officially launched their historic collaboration.

In a press release on Feb. 19, the University of Cincinnati announced the launch of the  university-branded clothing line, BlaCkOWned™ x UC™. This is the university’s first collaboration with BlaCk OWned.

“At the heart of [BlaCk OWned]’s mission lies a steadfast commitment to promoting Black business ownership and challenging societal inequities through their clothing,” UC said in the press release. “In a move that exemplifies this commitment, UC Bookstores has brought the empowering ethos of [BlaCk OWned] directly to our UC community in the Bookstore (Tangeman University Center, Level 3), providing an opportunity to embrace their true selves with a line that includes T-shirts, sweatpants and jackets.”

BlaCk OWned also recruited the help of RoSho Awards and Graphics, the awards and graphics business owned by local civil rights activist Iris Roley and her husband, Jesse Roley, to create some of their designs for this collection with UC.

The collection includes an oversized crew neck graphic tee, varsity jacket, varsity embossed sweatshirt and joggers available at UC’s bookstore at Tangeman University Center or on BlaCk OWned Outerwear’s website.
