It’s National Hispanic Heritage Month, and Cincinnati is ready to celebrate.
Great Parks of Hamilton County and La Mega Media will host the inaugural Hispanic Heritage Festival noon-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, in Sharon Woods. The event will honor “the history, culture and achievements of Hispanic and Latin Americans,” according to an emailed release.
Plenty of local organizations and vendors supporting Greater Cincinnati’s Latinx and Hispanic communities will be on hand during the festival, which will be concentrated in Cardinal Crest Meadow of the park. FC Cincinnati, Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, Heartfelt Tidbits, LifeCenter Organ Donor Network, Su Casa Hispanic Center Services and Ten Thousand Villages will have booths at the event.
The festival will feature plenty of entertainment, as well.
- Dayton Salsa Project, noon-1 p.m.
- Zumba with Aida, 1 p.m.
- Salsannati salsa dancing lessons, 1 p.m. and 3:40 p.m.
- El Alacrán de Durango, 1:30-2:45 p.m.
- Cincinnati Baila! Dance Academy, 3-3:30 p.m.
- DJ Alexis, 4-5 p.m.
The festival is free to attend, but visitors may purchase food and beverages. Local food trucks will include El Comal Casero Street Food, MashRoots and Taqueria Los Cuñados.
National Hispanic Heritage Month runs Sept. 15-Oct. 15Â and recognizes the contributions that Hispanic communities and Latinx trailblazers throughout the country have made.Â
