At the end of May, the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra (CCO) announced the appointment of Evan Gidley as executive director. Gidley succeeds LeAnne Anklan, who resigned last December. Gidley takes over management of overall operations, concert productions, marketing efforts and financial resources.

Gidley served as orchestra personnel manager for the Columbus (OH) Symphony Orchestra, creating and managing virtual educational programs for students throughout Central Ohio.

A native of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Gidley received his master’s degree in saxophone performance with a minor in arts administration for CCM.

“I am thrilled to have this opportunity to advance the CCO’s mission,” Gidley said in a press release. “This is an exciting time for the performing arts industry as the COVID-19 pandemic has forced organizations to rethink traditional business models in order to achieve greater accessibility via a focus on community.”

The CCO is an ensemble of 32 professional musicians led by artistic director Eckart Preu. CCO's centerpiece is the annual Summermusik series during August featuring performances in intimate spaces and larger venues. This year, the annual Summermusik series will take place from Aug. 6-27.

The 2022 Cincinnati Opera season runs June 18-July 31. Info: cincinnatiopera.org.
