The Cincinnati Shakespeare Company is hosting special Facebook Live happy hour chats each Thursday.

The first is at 5 p.m. April 9. Grab a drink (at your house) and watch the CSC’s Producing Artistic Director Brian Isaac Phillips and resident ensemble members Matthew Lewis Johnson, Jeremy Dubin, Kelly Mengelkoch and Courtney Lucien chat about Richard Bean’s One Man, Two Guvnors.

Phillips directed the CSC’s 2015 production of the show, and those ensemble members starred in it.

Coincidentally, London’s National Theatre has made their own comical production of One Man, Two Guvnors — starring James Cordon — available to watch for free this week.

According to the National Theatre, this is the synopsis of the work: “Fired from his skiffle band, Francis Henshall becomes minder to Roscoe Crabbe, a small time East End hood, now in Brighton to collect £6,000 from his fiancée’s dad. But Roscoe is really his sister Rachel posing as her own dead brother, who’s been killed by her boyfriend Stanley Stubbers. Holed up at The Cricketers’ Arms, the permanently ravenous Francis spots the chance of an extra meal ticket and takes a second job with one Stanley Stubbers, who is hiding from the police and waiting to be re-united with Rachel. To prevent discovery, Francis must keep his two guvnors apart. Simple.”

Here’s their trailer:

CSC suggests whether or not you caught their 2015 show, stream the London one before this week’s virtual happy hour. Then, “Hear insights into this production, ask questions, and keep your love of classical theatre active from home!”

The next happy hour topic has not yet been announced.
