For 20 years now, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company (also known as Cincy Shakes) has been bringing the theatre to citizens all over the Tri-State as part of their Shakespeare in the Park series.

In its 20th season of Shakespeare in the Park, Cincy Shakes will be bringing the Bard’s famous comedy “Much Ado About Nothing” to public parks all over Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana this summer starting July 14 and running until September 6.

During the season, over 40 parks across the Tri-State area will host free performances in Hamilton, Warren, Butler, Montgomery, Miami and Clermont counties in Ohio; Kenton, Mason, Boone and Grant counties in Kentucky; and Dearborn, Franklin and Wayne counties in Indiana.

In addition, audiences across the Tri-State can experience the play in a whole new way as Cincy Shakes does their first ever live broadcast performance later this summer. The cast of the play will be putting on a live radio version of the play on 91.7 WVXU from 7-8 p.m. on August 29.

“Much Ado About Nothing” is one of Shakespeare’s most enduring classics. It follows two sparring skeptics, Beatrice and Benedick, whose witty war of words masks something far more tender. As part of the nationwide celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, this version of the play is set in 1776.

Every performance in the Shakespeare in the Park series is open to everyone for free, with no tickets or RSVP required. Audiences can simply bring blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy an evening of entertainment under the stars.
