Factory 52 is helping Greater Cincinnati ring in the Year of the Snake at its second-annual Lunar New Year event this weekend.
The fun takes place Saturday, Feb. 1 from noon to 7 p.m. in the Gatherall food hall. The event is free and open to the public, and guests can expect a day full of cultural performances, free family fun and delicious food.
Event highlights include:
Lion & Dragon Dances
Professional dancers with the Ohio Wushu Academy will perform these traditional dances, where dancers manipulate large, colorful costumes to mimic the movements through poles. The dances are an essential part of the Lunar New Year celebrations and are meant to bring good luck, drive away evil spirits and promote prosperity and happiness.
Martial Art Demonstrations
Ohio Wushu Academy will also perform martial arts demonstrations that showcase tradition, skill and culture.
Red Envelope Giveaways
Anyone who makes a purchase at the Gatherall has the chance to win a Red Envelope prize.
Family Fun
There will be activities for kids of all ages, including origami, coloring stations and story times.
