The Kennedy Heights Arts Center’s new photography exhibit is capturing the spirit of adventure and exploration and making us all say, “I wish I was there.”
The new juried exhibit, Wish You Were Here, features local artists’ most-loved vacation photographs and the stories behind them. The idea behind the exhibit is to showcase those breathtaking photos taken on vacation that aren’t just beautiful, but also detail the feeling of their whole travel experience in just one frame. Wish You Were Here aims to celebrate experiencing different places or seeing familiar places from a new perspective, traveling to discover and exploring and sharing the world.
“The range of photographs in this show highlights how and why different people remember a specific time and place. Each artists’ statement that hangs with the photograph connects the viewer to the nostalgic feeling of that specific moment,” Mallory Feltz, director of exhibitions at Kennedy Heights Arts Center, said in a press release.
Wish You Were Here is a collection of 60 photographs from 45 local artists. The photos were selected by a jury panel of three Cincinnati photographers — Michael Keating, Tina Gutierrez and William Jones.
An opening reception will be held Saturday, Aug. 26 from 6-8 p.m. It’s free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.
You can see Wish You Were Here from Aug. 26-Oct. 28. The Kennedy Gallery is open Tuesdays-Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
