Since 1976, Oktoberfest Zinzinnati has been Cincinnati’s favorite celebration of beer, brats and dashing dachshunds in hot dog costumes.
The festival, which hosted more than 700,000 people last year, will be held Sept. 16-17 on Second and Third streets downtown between Walnut and Elm streets.
“We are excited to announce the return of Oktoberfest Zinzinnati, one of our region’s most loved traditions,” Spencer Mapes, lead event manager for Oktoberfest Zinzinnati, said in a press release. “We’re proud to help Cincinnati celebrate its German roots and provide a memorable experience people return for year after year.”
Presented by Samuel Adams, this three-day festival celebrates German heritage through food, music, entertainment and, of course, beer. The lineup of vendors and entertainment has yet to be announced.
The press release did note the return of the Running of the Wieners, which will kick off the festival on Sept. 16. According to the release, 100 dachshunds (wiener dogs) dressed in costumes that range from the typical hot dog to traditional German clothing will race in multiple heats.
