Step back in time to pioneer days this weekend with Great Parks’ 1800s Harvest Jamboree.
The Harvest Jamboree celebrates the pioneering history of the Cincinnati area with old-time food and games at Shawnee Lookout in Miami Township (Hamilton County). At the Harvest Jamboree, guests can taste recipes from the frontier, including apple tansey, a popular sweet dessert featuring sliced and fried apples, and onion pie, a savory dish made from shredded and fried onions in a pie shell.
Along with the authentic flavors of the era, visitors can also try their hand at tomahawk tossing, a stick and hoop rolling game, the graces tossing game and more. Or, test your strength with the two-person saw and your craftiness by making ragdolls and candles.
Harvest Jamboree runs from 1-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 2-3 and is free to attend, but some activities require a small fee.
