If you’ve been considering adopting a furry new family member, there has literally been no better time than now to do so. And while cats and dogs have been the prevalent adoptees seen smattered across social media pages, with folks rejoicing in their new companions, felines and canines aren’t the only animals looking for some love.
Meet Kate, a friendly potbellied pig that is currently up for adoption from the Clermont Animal Humane Society.
Kate is between 3-5 years old and is fully grown, weighing a hefty 250 pounds. According to Meaghan Colville, director of Lifesaving Programs at Clermont County Humane Society, Kate likes to give her humans nose boops against their legs and is really a fast runner. She’s done great with dogs and appears to like children. She is primarily an outdoor pig, but a previous owner said she may have spent time inside, too.
Clermont Animal Humane Society doesn’t typically handle pigs, but were called to a local park where she was found as a stray and “since she made her way to us, we’re happy to find her a home.” Colville says.
Kate’s adoption fee is $100. To schedule an appointment to meet her, call the humane society at 513-732-8854.
