BanaSun Smoothie Bar has opened its long-awaited brick-and-mortar storefront at 1810 Race St. in Findlay Market as of 10:30 a.m. July 16.
Helmed by Michael Kroeger, a former financial advisor, BanaSun has been operating as a mobile smoothie bike cart for the past four years, with frequent stops at Findlay Market’s outdoor space, Washington Park and Fountain Square.
“While I had a rewarding career in financial services, I felt a deep calling to take on a new adventure and create a business from scratch,” Kroeger says in a release. “With a passion for health and fitness I decided to create a smoothie business.”
The new permanent BanaSun storefront will offer an expanded menu beyond the smoothies and frozen lemonade customers have come to know to include juices, smoothie bowls and coffee.
“We have a variety of hand-crafted smoothies using fresh, natural ingredients; some grab-and-go items; frosted lemonades; fresh-squeezed orange juice; and nitro coffee, a cold-brew infused with nitrogen that is creamier and thicker than typical iced coffee,” Kroeger says.
A graduate of local Archbishop Moeller High School and the Farmer School of Business at Miami University, Kroeger says his long-term goal is to help use the proceeds of his storefront to build a school in the developing world.
BanaSun is open 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.
