Fresh off a mention of being one of the “50 best places in America right now” by the New York Times, an Over-the-Rhine restaurant is getting even more praise from a premier culinary magazine.

Wildweed, an upscale pasta-centric establishment from Chef David and Lydia Jackman, is now being spotlighted as one of “The 20 Best New Restaurants of 2025” by Bon Appetit magazine. The magazine also recognized Wildweed as one of Summer 2024’s “8 Must-Visit New Restaurants” last year when it first opened.

In the newest roundup, Bon Appetit editorial operations manager Kate Kassin writes, “Dinner at Cincinnati’s Wildweed is a snapshot of a Midwest few know as well as David Jackman … Everything Jackman cooks is an invitation to see this region in its most delicious light.”

You can read the full write-up here. It will also appear in Bon Appetit’s October 2025 print issue.

“It’s absolutely thrilling to be on a list we grew up reading every year, and representing our region and community,” Chef David Jackman said in a press release. “It’s been an emotional week.”

The recognition follows a long trail of success for the OTR restaurant, which has only been open for a little over a year. Last year, Wildweed was named one of the best new restaurants of the year by Esquire, and earlier this year, David Jackman was named a nominee in the James Beard Foundation’s Restaurant and Chef Awards in the category of Best Chef in the Great Lakes region. The NYT released its own feature earlier this week.

Wildweed started in 2019 as the Sunday Sauce pop-up in Oakley and has gone through a few iterations — and over 225 pop-ups and private events — before opening in its permanent brick-and-mortar space in July 2024. The menu features non-traditional pastas and sauces that you can enjoy à la carte in the dining room or via a tasting menu experience at their chef’s counter.
