Christian Moerlein Makes a Goetta Beer for the Inaugural Glier’s Goetta Pub Crawl at The Banks

Eat to Your Heart’s Content at Taste of Cincinnati, Goettafest and All the Other Amazing Food Festivals Cincinnati’s food festivals are top-notch in any season, but there’s just something about having a goetta burger in July that really slaps. Kicking off the summer food festival scene is Taste of Cincinnati over Memorial Day weekend where you’ll be able to try menu items from nearly 80 vendors across the Tri-State. Then in June, you can take a bite out of Italy at Newport’s Italianfest where you can sample pizza, pasta, cannolis and gelato. Then over the course of two weekends in July and August, it’s all about Goettafest and the wacky concoctions vendors whip up (goetta brownie, anyone?). But don’t sleep on the smaller festivals: Cincy Soul: The Black Taste; Inland Seafood Festival, Rockin’ Taco Festival, Panegyri and more all offer delicious menus to keep you full all summer. On July 17, the inaugural Glier’s Goetta Pub Crawl takes place in advance of the annual Glier’s Goettafest on the Newport riverfront, which has pulled a Coachella and is now a two-weekend affair July 25-28 and Aug. 1-4.

The crawl will take over The Banks from 6-10 p.m., starting with a special keg tapping at the Moerlein Lager House.

Moerlein has crafted a special Glier’s Goetta-inspired lager for the event, brewed with smoked malt, sea salt, black peppercorn and oats from Glier’s.

The rest of the crawl will include beer and chef-prepared goetta specials at stops including the AC Hotel, Jefferson Social, Galla Park and more.

Each “goetta crawler” will check in at the Glier’s Goetta mobile kitchen to obtain a menu and a wristband. Each time you visit a different crawl location, get your menu punched. At the end of the crawl, return to the mobile kitchen with your menu to grab a “I Ran the Goetta Gauntlet” T-shirt and register to win Yeti cooler chock full of Glier’s Goetta and goetta beer.

Tickets are $10 and proceeds benefit the pediatric-cancer-fighting Dragonfly Foundation.
