July in Cincinnati can only mean one thing: it’s burger time. CityBeat‘s Burger Week is back for seven days of $5 burgers at more than 70 restaurants across the Tri-State.

From July 16-22, hungry humans can find a burger for every palate, whether your favorite combo is classic with tomato, lettuce and mayo; vegan; or covered in mac and cheese. Participating restaurants will also be featuring beers from Braxton Brewing Company and drink specials from Jack Daniels to help wash down those burgers.

Taste of Belgium is joining the lineup this year with their B^3 Burger (Belgian Bar-B-Q Burger) featuring their house burger nestled on a Belgian grit waffle and topped with candied bacon, cheddar, sweet and spicy tomato jam and Belgian Bar-B-Q sauce.

For a Southwestern flavor profile, head to Slatts Pub in Blue Ash for their That’s Nacho Cheeseburger, complete with a mountain of pulled chicken, pico de gallo, crunchy tortilla strips and homemade nacho cheese.

There will be desert “burgers,” too, like the BisCoffee Iceburger from Tres Belle Cakes and Coffee Shop in Reading. It starts with a scoop of their exclusive BisCoffee ice cream (an espresso base with swirls of Biscoff cookie butter) nestled between two slices of glazed donut. It’s topped off with a hot fudge drizzle and Biscoff cookie crumbles and voila, proof that not even dessert is safe from burger-fication.

Let your Official Burger Week Passport guide you through all the best spots to chow down and get it stamped at each restaurant you visit. If you collect three or more stamps, you can submit it for a chance to win a grill and a sweet summer grill-out party courtesy of the Ohio Beef Council.

Pre-game for the week at the kick-off party 5:30-8:30 p.m. July 11 at Braxton Brewery — it’s your first opportunity to pick up the Official Burger Week Passport and start your Burger Week stamp collection with the purchase of a Braxton beer. (Summertrip is back for the season; hint, hint.) Taste samples of Burger Week specialties from a few participating eateries and jam to live music courtesy of a local band.

Burger Week aims to fill Cincinnati bellies with food in more ways than one. This year, CityBeat is once again using Cincinnati Burger Week as a way to raise awareness for the over 50,000 kids in our city who struggle with getting adequate access to food over the summer break. CityBeat will donate to Childhood Food Solutions, a local group with a goal of finding solutions for childhood food insecurity. They work to subsidize food during school breaks, especially during these summer months when children are the hungriest. Visit childhoodfoodsolutions.org to learn more about how you can help.
