There’s going to be a throwdown in the kitchen at Over-the-Rhine this month as some of Cincinnati’s favorite chefs duke it out for a good cause.

The SCRAPS Rescued Cook-Off is happening at Rhinegeist Brewery on March 10 from 2-6 p.m. The cook-off will benefit Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen and see which of the Queen City’s hottest chefs can cook like they do every day — with surprise rescued food ingredients.

Participating SCRAPS chefs are given mystery ingredients and just 24 hours to craft 300 bites. Those chefs include:

  • Jessica Baston (Coppin’s)
  • Josh Sprandel (MadTree Alcove)
  • Alana Askew (French Crust)
  • Scott Berens (Dead Low Brewing)
  • Sarah Dwarak (Babushka Pierogies)
  • Candice Holloway (Soul Secrets)
  • Ben Long (Sen by Kiki)
  • Xavier Pierre (Maw Maw’s Creole Kitchen)
  • Kymberly Wilbon (The Passion Plate)

General admission is $75 and will get you admittance into the cook-off at Rhinegeist (1910 Elm St., Over-the-Rhine), plus samples of the dishes paired with Rhinegeist brews and the chance to vote for your favorite dish. You’ll also receive a special beer-tasting glass.

VIP tickets are $150 and will get you all the above, plus a seated live viewing of the “Chef Battle” at Our Daily Bread (1730 Race St., Over-the-Rhine) from 2-3:30 p.m. the same day. Attendees get to watch as Baston and Sprandel compete Chopped style with surprise ingredients and a 20-minute time limit. Following that, a panel of celebrity judges will determine who will win the Chef Battle belt.

VIP ticket holders also will be able to enjoy appetizers from Our Daily Bread head chef Garland Butts and a specialty cocktail from Molly Wellman, plus two wine tickets.

Tickets can be purchased here. For more information, visit ourdailybread.us.
