Jungle Jim’s has taken its popular cooking class series online.
The Cooking School at Jungle Jim’s is now offering virtual classes with two different options: A hands-on course with a pre-measured ingredients kit, plus recipes and a utensil list so you can cook along with instructor Leigh Barnhart Ochs. Ingredients for specific classes will be available for pick-up at The Cooking School at Jungle Jim’s Fairfield during select times.
Or you can opt for a demo class, where you watch and learn, sans ingredients. (If you opt for a demo class, you will get the recipe beforehand so you can buy your own ingredients in advance if you want to cook along with the instructor.)
The virtual classes are available via Zoom with upcoming options including:
- Weeknight Italian ($35 demo; $85 hands-on with ingredients), where you’ll learn to make sautéed lemon shrimp, penne with pesto trapanese and chocolate almond biscotti.
- A Jack Daniel’s Whiskey Tasting ($25 without tasting kit; $65 with tasting kit), where you’ll learn the differences between rye, Tennessee whiskey and bourbon and hear tall tales and whiskey lore from “Whiskey Pete” Wagner. Leigh Barnhart Ochs will also show you how to make pickled cherries and slow-roasted olives for a cheese and charcuterie board.
- Date Night: Italian Peppercorn Filet Mignon ($35 demo; $95 hands-on with ingredients), during which you’ll learn how to make filet mignon with green peppercorn-cream sauce, sautéed broccoli rabe with cannellini beans and chocolate hazelnut cake.
