Downtown Madeira officially welcomed a new pizza and pasta restaurant to the neighborhood Wednesday with a special grand opening.
Pastizza Pizza & Pasta, located at 6927 Miami Ave., opened its doors in October and celebrated Wednesday morning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The menu features New York-style pizza along with classic Italian-style pasta dishes.
The restaurant says it prides itself on using only the finest ingredients and crafting each pizza and pasta dish with care. The tomato sauce is made fresh daily from Italian tomatoes, and, for their pizzas, they use a 70-year-old baker’s oven that creates a nice char on the crust while keeping the inside soft and flavorful.

Pizzas come with a 12- or 16-inch crust, but Pastizza also offers a 10-inch cauliflower crust. They also have a variety of specialty pizzas, ranging from a classic tomato, garlic and basil Bruschetta and pepperoni, sausage, ham, bacon and ground beef-topped Meat Lovers to the Old-Fashioned, which is described as having “Old-Fashioned Sauce — a perfect blend of tradition and mystery.”
Pasta dishes include red-sauce classics like manicotti, lasagna and ravioli, as well as a couple trio dishes that allow you to try a variety. In addition to the pizza and pasta, Pastizza also offers a variety of appetizers like garlic rolls, calamari and meatballs; salads; calzones and strombolis; and subs. They also offer cannolis, lemoncello, New York-style cheesecake and tiramisu for dessert.
Pastizza is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
