Longfellow's Other Room 109 E. 13th St. and Brackett Alley, Over-the-Rhine Attached to Longfellow, the bar's Other Room is a separate back drinking spot that has a large list of fluctuating rums. With the vibe of a '50s basement bar — where Desi Arnaz would perform but was managed by David Lynch — the rum curators and bartenders are more than happy to help you find a favorite new spirit from their global collection. The unassuming entrance is at 109 E. 13th and Brackett Alley along Longfellow's strip of side doors and windows, but can also be accessed by walking through the bar's bathroom hallway. Do you enjoy the vibe at Longfellow? Have you heard about their other room that recently opened? It’s called Other Room. And it’s literally another room behind the bar’s first room that offers “the feel of your grandparent’s basement” — plenty of wood paneling, exposed brick, framed floral prints and other cool retro and vintage ephemera.

The Other Room also offers what they say is Ohio’s largest selection of rum and a touted proper absinthe service. Bartenders place a sugar cube on a special slotted spoon over the top of a glass of absinthe and pour a small amount of water carefully over it. It’s certainly not a widespread practice at most local bars, and should be an exciting draw.

The bar also offers the same beer, wine and cocktail menu as Longfellow, in case rum and absinthe don’t hit the spot.

Other Room is open 8 p.m. to “late” Wednesday through Saturday (with occasional Monday and Tuesday pop-ups) and accessible through the back door of Longfellow or from 109 E. 13th St. and Brackett Alley. They also host private parties, so check out their website for scheduling options.
