The Pub Rookwood has closed permanently.
The British-inspired dining restaurant, located at 2692 Edmondson Road, was open for 25 years.
In a press release, Tavern Restaurant Group announced it was “shifting its presence” of the brand in the Cincinnati area.
The ownership group will now focus on their auxiliary location, The Pub London Street Food, in Madisonville’s Element Eatery food hall. The Pub’s Crestview Hills location will remain open, and the team is converting the bar in their Symmes Township restaurant deSha’s into something resembling The Pub to “represent the warm ambiance and authentic hospitality of The Pub spirit.”
The release notes that the decision to close was due to economic conditions and the rise of operating costs, and that it was “not made lightly.”
“We are deeply grateful to our guests, team members, and the Rookwood community for their support over the years,” CEO Nick Sanders said in a statement. “While retiring this location is difficult, we feel it best aligns with our strategy for the success and future of the brand.”
Tavern Restaurant Group pledges to help support displaced employees through the transition, according to the release.
In addition to The Pub and deSha’s, the group operates both Nicholson’s Pub and the Backstage Event Center in downtown Cincinnati. For more information, visit TRG’s official website.
