‘80s pop icon Cyndi Lauper is performing around the country one last time on her Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour. On Monday, Lauper announced the final leg of this year-long tour, which includes a stop in Cincinnati this July.
The Grammy, Emmy and Tony award-winning singer will visit Riverbend Music Center on Tuesday, July 29. Pop musician and songwriter Jake Wesley Rogers, who has also toured with Panic! At the Disco and Kesha, will open.
Artist presale tickets will be available starting Tuesday, March 11 at 10 a.m., with general sale starting Friday, March 14 at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.com and riverbend.org. There will also be VIP packages and experiences available to purchase, which vary but could include premium tickets, a pre-show VIP lounge, a specially designed VIP gift item and more. Lauper’s farewell tour is her first major headlining run in a decade and kicked off in North America in October and included her first time headlining and selling out Madison Square Garden. Along the way, she has also been raising money for the Girls Just Want to Have Fundamental Rights Fund at the Tides Foundation, with $150,000 raised through fan donations at her shows and online campaigns.
The Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour has been receiving critical praise, including from Billboard, which wrote, “Lauper has not lost an iota of her distinctive vocal power…a naturally hilarious human who effortlessly commands an audience’s attention.” And Chris Willman of Variety shared, “Lauper pretty well established for all time that girls just want to be multi-faceted.”
In addition to juggling a hit tour, the “True Colors” singer has also recently been nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s class of 2025.
