With two more months left of the year, there’s just enough time to make right with that resolution to see more live music (or more of the city) in 2024. Either way, maybe it’s time to make that happen. There are plenty of opportunities this month to get out, especially with Thanksgiving coming up and one of the most notoriously busy bar times of the year associated with the holiday. Here are just a few shows to get you out of the house to see some old friends or make some new ones this month while giving thanks to the city’s creative culture and night life.

Beef, Tigerlilies (release show), The No Ways (Chicago) and Sir Gregory F.K. at MOTR Pub Fuzzed out punk locals Beef (pictured) bring driving-straight-forward-as-possible rock and roll and spacey, skewed melody and jabs of rhythm. They play MOTR fresh off an opening set for Jack White at Bogart’s last month, supporting longtime Cincinnati group The Tigerlilies who are celebrating a CD release of their new single and The No Ways on tour from Chicago. Local garage disciple Sir Gregory F.K. opens the night. The show is part of a group showing of visual artists titled “You Not Me.” As Cincinnati garage rock legend and Cincinnati Suds founder Sean Morrisey would say, “The wild blast must go on.” As a bonus, local singer-songwriter Anna Applegate plays two unplugged happy hour sets from 5-7 p.m. 8 p.m. Nov. 8. Reclaimed Runways IV featuring DJ Boywife at Flora & Flair This ambitious event/fashion show featuring local creatives and special guest DJ Boywife (pictured) will showcase new perspectives and ideas. The flyer describes the event as “a unique fashion show that is a celebration of innovation, focusing on young creatives who are testing the boundaries of creative expression,” and promises 90 local artists, designers, performers, musicians and models. Sarah Asher and Chris Castle at Southgate House Revival Local artist Sarah Asher (pictured) and her alluring songwriting, a unique twist of the shimmer of pop along with a touch of the natural grounded power of folk and traditional music, supports legendary songwriter Chris Castle for this mid-month highlight. 7 p.m. Nov. 14. $10. Lauren Eylise at Ghost Baby Local songstress Lauren Eylise will delight the crowd underground in the lavish showroom of Over-the-Rhine’s Ghost Baby for An Evening with Lauren Eylise. Step out and head down underground for one of the city’s most glamourous nights out in the historic underground tunnels turned posh experiential bar at Ghost Baby. 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Nov. 14. Nick Keeling Experimental Sound Installation at Lunkenheimer Local event organizer and musician Nick Keeling will showcase a new quadrophonic tape-looped piano piece in the expansive, historic Lunkenheimer factory on the West Side. The Harlequins, Leggy and Kairos Creature Club (NYC) at Northside Tavern The spacey pop and chord organ kaleidoscope-psychedelia of Brooklyn’s Kairos Creature Club is a good bridge between Cincinnati psych-garage essentials The Harlequins (pictured) and the Barbie doll with a switchblade pop of Leggy who support the band at this midweek happening in Northside. 9 p.m. June 12. $10. concert:nova super nova gala at Union Hall Innovative chamber orchestra and music organization concert:nova has put together another unique night built around classical music featuring performances of Grieg’s Holberg Suite and Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, along with a silent auction for curated local experiences and items from Cincinnati makers, boutiques and businesses. Leggy, Gremlin and Tetchy (New York) at The Comet Local female-fronted dream pop and punk-empowered favorites Leggy (pictured) team up with newer powerhouse garage rock group Gremlin to welcome New York band Tetchy at Cincinnati rock and roll landmark The Comet for this triple taster for current rock and roll. 9:30 p.m. Aug. 24. Tweens and more TBA at MOTR Pub Tweens, one of Cincinnati’s definitive bands, are at times raw and abrasive, and other times sweet and even vulnerable while calling on all the best parts of rock and roll to get the strongest message across. Join them and others still to be announced for this special day-after-Thanksgiving show. It’s also the opening of first-time exhibiting local photographer Jennifer Southcombe, whose shots of Cincinnati at night will debut on MOTR’s gallery wall with an opening celebration from 5-7 p.m. Bands will be followed by DJ Freakboys at midnight.
