In an age when the screen (TV, computer, handheld device, etc.) is an established and expected mediator in so many of our interpersonal exchanges via texts, Skype, Facebook postings, online chats, etc., how is the ultimate indicator of intimacy — sex — influenced by our technological advances? A diverse group of artists employing a wide variety of media will explore the effects of technology on sex, dating and romance in Pixxxel: Sex & Technology, an exhibition at the recently re-launched Boom Gallery in Evanston.

Opening reception: 5-10 p.m. Saturday. Through June 1. Free. 1940 Dana Ave., Evanston, facebook.com/boomgalleryustmp_1399403218851.
