Textalgia, the current exhibition at the Covington Artisans Enterprise Center through April 16, might have come up with a new word that someday will rival “blog” or “locovore” in popularity — “textalgia,” we are told, refers to “eliciting or displaying of nostalgia through the exploration of textures.” I can’t find a reference to it anywhere else on the Internet, including dictionary.com, beyond this show. Four artists use various mediums to explore how different textures can further the possibilities of communication. Participants are sculptors Emily Casagrande and David Michael Rice, digital illustrator/graphic designer Dustin Pike and Paul Tribble, who works with mixed media and found objects. On Friday at 6 p.m., the artists will speak about their work in a free panel discussion. Get gallery details here.
