The Christ Hospital has delayed the opening of its drive-thru testing site at 2139 Auburn Ave. in Mount Auburn. It was slated to open Wednesday, March 18, and won’t open “until further notice” because of a lack of testing supplies.
According to a Facebook post and press release, “Due to high demand for testing, and limited testing materials in the region, the site’s opening has been delayed. The site is set up and ready to see patients once an appropriate amount of testing materials can be secured to ensure smooth operations in the coming weeks. We’ll let you know as soon as the site is ready to open. We’re encouraging anyone who is experiencing flu-like symptoms to stay home and call their primary healthcare provider for next steps to be tested.”
Their drive-thru collection center in Mason is open. But you must have a doctor’s referral before going. At that site, they collect nasal samples and then send them to labs to be evaluated for COVID-19. Results take several days to come back and individuals will be contacted about their test results.
According to Christ’s website, “If an individual has a test order from a healthcare provider, they will be asked to stay in their vehicle and call the facility upon arrival. An approximate wait time will be communicated, and the individual will stay in their vehicle during that wait. Once their turn has come, they will receive a phone call asking them to enter the facility. They will promptly be given a mask and taken back to have a sample collected. At that point, the individual will be able to return to their vehicle and go home.”
