Steubenville, Ohio, native Mark Eddie started his stand-up career in Pittsburgh. He performed serious songs in coffeehouses on college campuses before parlaying his storytelling talent and musical ability into a comedy act. Today, guitar in hand, he entertains audiences with original and parody songs.
“Kind of a mixture of everything,” he says by phone from his home in Los Angeles. “A lot of times when I’m making observations about artists, I do a piece of their song. I’m a singing impressionist.”
That’s the real kick for Eddie: Finding the funny or quirky parts of a singers voice and having fun with those. He also prides himself on re-creating the music very accurately. He also covers topics that other comedians talk about, but as opposed to his non-singing counterparts, has a song at the ready about each subject. Yet it’s not all fun and games: He occasionally returns to the coffeehouse scene in Southern California, some times jamming with friend and ex-Door Robby Krieger.
