Coroner ID’s Human Remains Discovered in February from 2022 Missing Person Case

Skeletal remains discovered near a park in the Fairmount neighborhood have been linked to a 2022 missing persons case.

The Hamilton County Coroner announced on Feb. 20 that the skeletal remains recovered near St. Clair Heights Park on Iroquois Street on Feb. 14 belong to Ronald King.

King was reported missing in April 2022.

While the coroner said the cause and manner of death are still pending, CPD Captain Steve Saunders told CityBeat on Feb. 15 that the cause of death was likely an overdose.

“Relevant to this person’s demise [is a] history with drug abuse, that’s what we think this is,” Saunders said.

The remains are believed to be associated with a missing person case from April 2022.

King’s remains were found a half mile away from the location where North Fairmount Jane Doe was discovered last November. Her torso was found by a passerby on Baltimore Avenue on Nov. 5, and a head matching the torso was discovered by federal agents two blocks away two months later.

CPD Lt. Jonathan Cunningham said the two cases are not related.
