Imagine: It’s Dec. 5, 1933. It’s been 14 long, dry years since the sale of alcohol has been legal in the U.S.; today, the 21st Amendment changes all that. Crowds swarm the local speakeasies, celebration erupts. It’s been 79 years since prohibition was repealed, but alcohol consumption is still an integral part of today’s culture, so we’ll keep on rejoicing those flowing taps. Japp’s hosts a “Get Wet” repeal party throwback to the 1930s; a live band will play 1930s music and guests are encouraged to dress 1930s style (that means fedoras, plaid, tailored suits and other Sears catalogue accouterments). Say “George Remus” (the famous prohibition-era Cincinnati lawyer and bootlegger) for special drink prices on repeal-era cocktails.
