Forget Cincinnati’s German heritage — this spring is all about Indian culture as Cincinnati Parks’ Krohn Conservatory features their 2009 butterfly show, Butterflies of India: Flowers with Wings. The conservatory will boast exotic art, music and brilliant colors to set the scene for guests as they tour the exhibit. Local Indian art collectors are loaning their art to the exhibit, to be displayed in the Bonsai Room along with a photographic mural of the Taj Mahal. This year’s show proves to be more hands-on with a variety of new interactive programs.
On Wednesdays guests can indulge in an adult beverage during the “Happy Hour With the Butterflies” from 5:30- 7:30 p.m. If drinking isn’t your thing, learn how to wear traditional Indian garb during a sari or turban-wrapping lesson. Or craft your very own Ganesha sculpture out of clay. Other special events include a wine tasting May 15; “Breakfast With the Butterflies” June 6; and a “Girls Night Out” June 12. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily through June 21. $6; $5 seniors, $4 kids 5-17; free for kids 4 and under.
