Mary Curran Hackett’s second novel, Proof of Angels, centers on Sean Magee, a Los Angeles firefighter who is forever altered after a horrific fire nearly takes his life. As the book’s title and that of her previous novel, Proof of Heaven, might suggest, Curran Hackett is a writer with a particular view on faith, one she unabashedly puts forth via clear-eyed prose that is likely to entice even non-believing readers. Hackett — who lives in Cincinnati with her husband, two children and “stacks of books” — discusses Proof of Angels at Joseph-Beth.
