A popular Northern Kentucky restaurant on a marina that was floating in the Ohio River is down, but maybe not out, its owners say.

A barge struck the Ludlow Bromley Yacht Club in the early morning hours of Oct. 2, dragging some of it down the river and sinking the rest. That effectively ended the marina’s season, as you might expect — and led to questions about whether the attraction would reopen at all.

That remains to be seen. But owners Steve and Andrea Gott, who opened the Yacht Club in 1997, say they’re not giving up hope.

“LBYC has been our paradise sanctuary for 23 great seasons and we are so sad to watch it be destroyed in five minutes,” the Gotts wrote in a Facebook post thanking first responders, friends, family and government agencies that have helped. “However, with the support of our family, friends, and loyal customers we are keeping our heads up while we continue to make progress in the cleanup process… While the future for LBYC remains unclear and there are a lot of challenges to face, all I can say is thanks from the bottom of our hearts & I WILL BE BACK.”

In the meantime, devoted fans of the Yacht Club can swoop in to the Lagoon Saloon across the street (859 Elm St., Ludlow). That restaurant, also operated by the Gotts, will be open Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. for lunch, the owners say.
