In Monsters (2010), Earth and its inhabitants struggled to deal with the aftermath of an alien invasion, which was concentrated in Central America, despite America and Mexico’s best efforts to contain the infected zone. Now, 10 years later, infected zones have popped up all over the globe with a new insurgency in the Middle East, forcing the army to institute a draft to deal with this uprising once and for all. Director Tom Green, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Jay Basu, takes over the reins from Gareth Edwards (Godzilla and the upcoming Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One), which signals the possibility for Monsters: Dark Continent to become a stepping-stone for Green.
