Fans who love the music presented at the MusicNOW festival (the annual local event organized by Bryce Dessner of The National) will want to be at the CAC this weekend for a special night of “electro-acoustic Chamber music” by a trio of notable musicians — cellist Clarice Jensen, violist Nadia Sirota and William Brittelle on electronics. In fact, Jensen and Sirota are alumni of MusicNOW (which returns March 29-April 1 with eighth blackbird and others TBA), having performed with their ensemble yMusic last year at the fest.
Brittelle is an acclaimed composer from Brooklyn whose primary “musical mentors,” according to his bio, are Pulitzer Prize-winning composer David Del Tredici, influential guitarist Richard Lloyd of Punk pioneers Television and Dizzy Gillespie pianist Mike Longo. That gives you a good sense of his musical philosophy, as does his most recent album, Television Landscape (2010), self-described as a “post-apocalyptic Art Rock concept album scored for orchestra, Rock band, synths and children’s choir.”
