One of Cincinnati’s most popular spots for nightlife is putting a new age policy in place.
Starting Friday, April 25, The Banks’ Public Plaza — located between Great American Ball Park and Walnut Street — will be only 21+ on Friday and Saturday nights. The age restriction goes from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. and the policy will be enforced every Friday and Saturday night.
In a press release, officials say the new policy will be “To provide a safer, more controlled environment for guests during high-traffic nightlife hours.” To enforce the new policy, the Public Plaza will now have enhanced security, ID checkpoints and staffing in place to “support a safe and enjoyable experience for those 21+.”
The age restriction comes after one person was injured in a shooting at E. Freedom Way on Saturday, April 19. That person had non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. Police haven’t released any other information on the victim or a possible suspect at this time.
Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval and Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge will hold a press conference Friday morning to share more on the new policy.
