President Donald Trump visited Thermo Fisher Scientific in Reading on Wednesday, speaking briefly about the Iran war before taking a photo with employees of the life science and clinical research company.
“We had to take this little couple of weeks, few weeks of excursion, but it’s been incredible,” Trump said. “We got many now we’re knocking out the drone plants, as you know, going fast. It’s not war but an excursion.”
When a reporter asked Trump if it was a war or an excursion, he said, “both.”
“They had 1,000s of missiles, 7,000, 8,000 missiles,” Trump said. “We got many of them before they got to lunch. It’s an excursion that will keep us out of a war, and going to be war for them. It’s not a war for us. It’s turned out to be easier than we thought.”
Later, he spoke about healthcare and TrumpRx, a federal prescription program.
“In America, we were paying the most for drugs,” Trump said. “We were paying more than any other nation by far, and I don’t mean by a little bit, but like double, triple, quadruple.”
Trump went on to say Americans are the beneficiaries of the work his administration has done to bring down drug prices.
“It’s amazing, nobody can believe it’ll happen,” Trump said. “And I guess other administrations tried, but they’re not that competent, or they didn’t try at all. I would say mostly they didn’t try.”

Trump also mentioned fond memories he has of Cincinnati with his father at the Swifton Village apartment complex.
“I spent three summers in the Queen City,” Trump said. “It was a great experience with my father when I was very young.”
After he spoke, Trump took a tour of the Thermo Fisher facility before heading to Boone County.
In Hebron, Trump is planning to address a crowd at Verst Logistics about what his regional press secretary said are his administration’s economic wins. Follow LINK nky for more coverage there.
