Kings Island announced Monday that it’s shuttering one of its rides for good. The amusement park posted on social media that its interactive dark ride, Boo Blasters on Boo Hill, will close to make room for future development.

Boo Blasters on Boo Hill was a family-friendly interactive, arcade-style ride featuring a moving car equipped with a special weapon called a “Boo Blaster.” Riders would have to shoot at “Boocifer,” a ghostly villain who has taken over the Boo Hill castle, and his ghost, ghoul and goblin minions to accumulate points. The ride was the fifth iteration of the original Enchanted Voyage attraction that opened in 1972, which became Smurfs’ Enchanted Voyage in 1984, then Phantom Theater in 1991 and Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle in 2003.

“Since 2010, the young and young-at-heart have created cherished memories working together to blast whimsical ghosts, ghouls and goblins back to the underworld on this classic indoor attraction,” Kings Island shared in its social media post Monday.

Visitors will have until Monday, Sept. 1 to ride Boo Blasters. Kings Island hasn’t said what it’s planning to develop in its place.
