No one mixes solid joke writing and sharp observation like comedian Robert Hawkins.
“This is America,” he says in his native Texas drawl. “If you act natural, you can swim in any hotel pool for a good half an hour before they kick you out. And when they do, you grab your new towel and leave peacefully. No ruckus. You walk through that lobby, get some peanuts from the bar, get a pad and pencil, get some Kleenex, check your email, shine your shoes, send a fax, get a cookie from the front desk and a newspaper, then take the shuttle back to the Super Eight where you’re staying.” Hawkins headlines Go Bananas’ New Year’s Eve celebration on Wednesday.
